My name is David Hill and I am running for re-election as Henderson County Commissioner District 5. I am a Christian, a Conservative, and a Henderson County native. I grew up in Upward, attended East Henderson High School, and graduated from Wingate College. During my youth, I spent most of my summers on my family’s farm in Tracey Grove where I learned the value of family, hard work, the importance of agriculture. After college, I met my wife, Lisa, and together we have two daughters. My family and I currently reside in the Zirconia area and are proud to call Henderson County home.
Professionally, I am a Professional Land Surveyor and own Hill & Associates Surveyors, P.A. located in East Flat Rock, North Carolina. As a local small business owner, I understand the importance of the value of the local economy, employing local talent, and providing services to our local community. As a Professional Land Surveyor, I have a first-hand understanding of the Henderson County Land Development Code and its effects on the everyday lives of Henderson County Citizens, not just developers. I also understand the effect that zoning has on the ability of everyday citizens to decide what is best for themselves and their families and the effect of zoning on businesses.
As Ronald Reagan said, “Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not to run their lives.” I believe that a small, limited, and fiscally responsible government best serves its people. Henderson County has worked to embody this theory over the last few years, and I want to ensure that it continues. Henderson County is facing growth, and it will be imperative that this growth be properly directed. I am also running to continue to support our EMS, Law Enforcement, Fire Department, Farmers, Agriculture Businesses, and Business Industry.
Service and civil participation are two very important priorities of mine. I ran for election in 2020 to serve my community and am running for re-election in 2024 to continue that service.
